As I celebrate my 10th year of membership in BMA Chicago, I am honored to take the helm as president of this great organization. The past 10 years have marked a decade of transformation at BMA. Many thanks to our talented board members; to Gary Slack, chairman of BMA National; and, most especially, thanks to our immediate past president, Suzanne Martin of Motorola.
In the past year, Suzanne introduced the concepts of Marketing 3.0 that catapulted BMA Chicago into the digital era, in which time and place no longer restrict participation. With her leadership and a membership community nearly 500 strong, today’s BMA Chicago is one of the most vibrant marketing organizations in the country.
This year we have an exciting lineup of keynote speakers and panelists. A common thread you will see throughout the luncheon programs is a perspective of “looking forward”: identifying the tectonic shifts that are on the horizon, celebrating marketing innovation and sharing actionable insights you can take right back to the office to advance your business, your marketing organization and your career.
BMA’s Marketing Innovators Luncheon Series will kick off with three blockbuster presentations you will not want to miss:
September 15
The Business Buyer of The Future
Google’s Jen Howard, head of B2B Markets, presents “Meeting the Customer at the Zero Moment of Truth.”
October 7
Talent 3.0: The Digital Leadership Challenge
Spencer Stuart presents recent research that will help shape your career and prepare your organization for the digital era.
November 4
Marketing 3.0: From Products to Customers to Human Spirit
Phil Kotler, best-selling author, living legend and one of the pre-eminent voices on marketing innovation, will present his most recent book Marketing 3.0 to help us rethink, adapt and innovate the way we market today.
These first three presentations set the stage for a year of outstanding programs. In addition to our luncheon series, check out the lineup for our Breakfast Roundtables.
And it’s never too soon to think about next summer. For the third consecutive year, we are delighted to be the host city for BMA’s annual conference June 1-3, 2011.
In addition to the great programs that BMA offers, the true value of this organization is reflected in its members. The people, the professional network and the friendships that are formed make this organization truly unique. This year we invite you to get involved. There are numerous volunteer opportunities and new ways to meet peers with similar interests and responsibilities. Whether you are new to BMA, a young professional, a corporate marketer or a CMO—or perhaps you are focused on analytics, product marketing or social media—we have special events and luncheon tables set aside for communities of interest of all shapes and sizes so that you can get engaged and leverage the full value of BMA.
We have an exciting year ahead of us. I hope you will join us as we kick off the new Marketing Innovators Luncheon Series Wednesday, September 15, at The Standard Club.
All the best,

Linda Meenan
President, BMA Chicago
Chief Marketing Officer, Wildman Harrold
